Whenever I have time I grab a pen and sketch some dresses. It’s like therapy! Unfortunately it doesn’t happen too often since I am busy with work. This is one of the things I regret because I know that if I drew more frequently I would better my skills…Here is a sketch to welcome this weekend!
The lookbook for the 2014 Fall Haute-Couture collection created by Stéphane Rolland is presented by the one and only Spanish model Nieves Alvarez. The French designer delivered a range of designs that perfectly match his signature style. Voluminous skirts, see-through fabrics, transparent panels, overwhelming trains and over-sized details were used to create sophisticated dress designs. Apart from the gowns, the collection also included a fringed red jumpsuit which was earlier seen on the Spanish TV presenter right before the official presentation as a sneak peak of the collection.
My favorite dress of the collection is the one above. I love everything about it and I hope we’ll get to see it on the red carpet. The black velvet, transparent skirt and thin gold belt create the ideal form of elegance. You can see the entire collection on Stéphane Rolland’s official website: click here.
When it comes to haute-couture collections, I am most eager to see the Ralph & Russo one. I love the clean shapes, the sophisticated details, the late 50s inspiration, the impressive embroidery and the intricate lace. The white and pearled silver dresses donned effortlessly on the runway at the beginning of the show reminded me of Jackie Kennedy’s feminine style. The retro influences were then followed by ethereal gowns and dreamy silk or tulle dresses with gorgeous sweeping trains. See-thorough fabrics, floral appliques, beads and sequins completed the design of the dresses. The two designers played with volume and shapes, using asymmetrical skirts, impressive over-sized hats, sleeves and bows. Enjoy!(more…)
