I’ve been going through street style pictures ever since the fashion weeks started hoping that I would eventually find something that would blow my mind. That did not happen, but I did gather some very beautiful pictures. Masculinity, minimalism, monochrome looks, functionality…these are the things that I was looking forward to seeing at the fashion weeks among the too-colorful-too-kitsch ensembles and thankfully I found them. Enjoy! Continue reading
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli are an unbeatable duo! The talented designers manage to make me fall in love with this house a little bit more with every fashion show they put on. After being completely and irremediably in love with last year’s fall collection inspired by the beautiful Dutch paintings, I can’t stop feeling the same about the new fall 2014 one. The runway was vivid and colorful, yet strong and elegant. The designers incorporated a variety of style expressions, but still highlighted the core of this fashion house.
Minimalism blended with couture. A lot of the elements seen in the SS2014 couture collection were kept in. The sophisticated tulle and lace dresses were embroidered with floral motifs and see-through fabrics were decorated with little birds and butterflies. As I mentioned before, the show did not miss the minimalism. Simple, yet utterly feminine dresses completed the collection. Continue reading
With all the hype surrounding the Oscars, I forgot about Elie Saab presenting the new RTW collection. But it’s time to catch up! For the new season, the Lebanese designer chose a darker palette of colors just right for fall: red burgundy dresses, silk jumpsuits, ombre gowns, dark teal blue velvety fabrics and full black sequined gowns built the collection.
I picked my favorite looks, and although the awards season is over, I hope we’ll get to see some of these outfits on the red carpet, at movie premieres, photocalls or dinner events. Continue reading
Cate Blanchett NEVER disappoints! That’s one thing I am always sure of, therefore I knew she was going to cease us all with a stunning gown. She picked a truly wonderful dress by Armani Privé which was encrusted with beautiful multicolored sequins. The Australian actress carried the look effortlessly. Apart for the brilliance of the dress, I fell in love with her stunning Chopard earrings. A perfect hairstyle completed the look. I have to say, she is the queen of elegance and femininity and this is a truly enchanting look. I really can’t choose between this one and the Golden Globe dress.

Lupita Nyong’o was my favorite of the night! She wore the type of design I had predicted for her so imagine my excitement when I saw these pictures!
Last night, with a couple of hours left until the show, I saw this post on tumblr which I found very amusing because it was so relevant to me and how I was feeling about Lupita – and apparently to some other 10,000 people. I wonder how the team behind Lupita’s red carpet appearances must have felt with the pressure of living up to everybody’s expectations. And they did!
Let me tell you why I am so fond of this look:
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about the Haute Couture collections and , if you remember, I picked a gold Elie Saab dress for Lupita, the exact same design she wore last night. That’s how I pictured her: in a feminine deep v neck dress. And my dream came true! It wasn’t Elie Saab, it was Prada, as expected. The actress kept faithful to a minimalist style opting for very subtle details and accessories. Enjoy the pictures! Continue reading
