Carrying forward with the 2014 trends, today we’re putting the spotlight on the crossover skirt or any similar designs such as the wrap skirt. This year it’s all about one leg or another, and designers have found different ways to make sure we get the memo. Either using the classic skirt split or variations of it, the collections abound in revealing ensembles. I decided to focus on the crossover skirts.
Altuzarra is perhaps one of the most representative brands for this trend bringing to the runway an entire collection of simple, checked, see-through, silver, gold or fringe skirts with thigh-high splits. Continue reading
The 2014 summer is full of pleated designs, that’s for sure! From Hermès to Christian Dior and Lanvin, most of the brands have incorporated this versatile element into their pieces for this year’s spring season. Being one of the most known forms of expression in clothing, the pleat is a veteran in the world of fashion. Therefore, it’s always interesting to see how it is approached by designers.
Chloè has come with ethereal over-pleated dresses while Proenza Schouler and Zimmerman explored a more classic territory and opted for mid-length skirts. Zac Posen and Jenny Packham, two exponents of elegance and femininity in fashion, have completed their collections with heveanly pleated dresses as well.

Yes, I am back from this summer break that I took somehow unintentionally.
I honestly have no explanation for it. The truth is that I just didn’t feel like writing about anything anymore and for a moment there I almost decided to shut this blog down. Never has it been more than five days without writing on this blog, let alone almost three months.
But coincidentally or not, today I decided to log in again just in time to read the reminder from WordPress which says that today is the 3rd year anniversary of my blog! I cannot believe it’s been three years since I started it!
And also, I’m back just in time for the SS2014 Fashion Weeks which I am looking forward to. Although I am quite say about almost giving up this blog, I am feeling fresh and ready to write again. Perhaps this is what I needed. More to come soon!!!

Finals have been keeping me quite busy so my posts are going to be few and short. I found this great photo of a backless dress that was designed for the Spring 2007 collection of Balmain. What is alluring about it is the combination of the ever elegant black and the volume in the sleeves which makes it so enchantingly feminine.

It’s Saturday which means that I can delve into beautiful photography and enjoy the charming visuals of past ad campaigns. Today, I stumbled upon this breath-taking photograph of Karen Mulder taken for the Spring 1995 Céline campaign. I haven’t found out who the photographer was, but he/she surely did an incredible job. I love the striking cinematic vibe. It is amazing how picturesque a red dress can be if captured in the right moment; and of course, artistic and ravashing at the same time…
Have a beautiful and sunny weekend!
