Hello everybody! I hope you all had a magic Christmas! Before putting an end to this year, it’s time to recap some of the most thrilling red-carpet appearances of 2013. Although I haven’t wrote about many of them as I gave up covering events, I have always kept an eye on the dresses these ladies have worn thorughout the year.
The most beloved designerswere Elie Saab and Christian Dior. If I were to chose between them I’d go with Elie Saab mostly because of consistency. Although Dior has provided some beautiful gowns for the red carpet, I cannot get over the downturn it made in the last months. And this is how I get to the most disappointing brands lead also by Dior. The latest collections have not fulfilled my expectations and have sadly managed to transform Marion Cotillard from a red-carpet diva into a mediocre, if not disastrous, appearance.
Apart from the award ceremonies, a lot of beautiful gowns were delivered during promotional tours. I have included in this top some photocalls and TV shows as well. Enjoy!
Nicole Kidman attended the closing ceremony in a beautiful Giorgio Armani dress. Finally, a dress that I love without any doubt! Simplicity has got me this year, therefore my excitement for such understated refined gowns has been topping everything lately. Perhaps this is why I couldn’t find too many appealing gowns at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. But Nicole caught my attention at the opening ceremony and has done it again tonight, at the end of these two busy weeks. Last night was a wrap for the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and I am happy I got too see such a glamorous and elegant look on the red carpet.
There hasn’t been much excitement on the red carpet lately hence my lack of updates. Even last night, when Marion Cottilard’s new movie “The Immigrant” premiered, the stars, including the French actress herself, didn’t surprise with any breath-taking gowns. So, the only one that eventually caught my attention was top-model Karlie Kloss who wore a strapped Louis Vuitton feathered dress.
Maybe I am still under the spell of Great Gatsby which I only went to see yesterday, but this look really works for me! The flapper-inspired ensemble with feathered hem goes very well with her short locks. And her tall slender silhouette makes it even more appealing. Perhaps the shoes are a little bit heavy for this delicate design and I am strictly referring to the heel structure, but on the whole, it’s a wonderful look.
I keep seeing some of my favorite runway looks on the red carpet which is really great! For example, this Elie Saab Couture dress which is part of the spring collection has just been worn by Dita von Teese at the premiere of “Cleopatra”. It isn’t very hard to fall in love with Mr. Saab’s designs and this dress has been on my list of favorites ever since it was first presented on the runway. Maybe it is because Dita surprised us with not wearing a long dress as everybody expected to see on the red carpet that I love this look so much!
Another day in Cannes means another luscious premiere and, this time, the Golden Globe winner Jessica Chastain walked the red carpet for the premiere of “Cleopatra“. I know the beautiful actress opts for simple gowns a lot of the times, so I wasn’t surprised to see this look. She wore a sheer white Versace dress that was enlivened by a breath-taking necklace. I do like the dress, however the necklace doesn’t work for me in spite of its grateness. It is too heavy for such a delicate and feminine design. Her singature hairstyle completed the look.
