One of the most awaited, or better said, the most awaited collection of the haute-couture fashion week has arrived. The Lebanese designer Elie Saab who has turned the couture fashion shows into a royal feast for the eyes, has delivered yet again a breath-taking collection all of a piece with his signature alluring style.
Personally, I love the fall collections better than the spring ones because of the heavier, more opulent and royal looks displayed on the runway. Elie Saab has stuck to his successful formula once again – some may say that these gowns are becoming repetitive hence boring, however the designer doesn’t seem to show any interest in changing it. You know why? Because it’s working! I don’t know about you, but I love these collections just as they are. (more…)
The couture fashion week is here which only means that we get the chance to indulge ourselves with some breath-taking looks. I’m kicking off a series of posts dedicated to these collections starting with yesterday’s Dior runway presentation.
I have to admit that Dior has stopped being one of my favorite couture brands a while ago, perhaps because of the unflattering designs that seem quite repetitive or the red-carpet looks provided for the likes of Marion Cotillard and Jennifer Lawrence that fail to excite me. But, of course, that doesn’t stop me from checking out every new collection.
This Fall 2014 collection is a melange of looks, from elegant gowns to fur coats, modern short dresses and minimalist suits. What I really liked were the minimalist chic coats sweeping to the ground, the vivid accents of colors such as bright red and navy blue that lit up the understated black elegance and the utter comfort that exuded from these looks. It’s like Raf Simons found the perfect combination of couture and modern functionality! (more…)
Although my hometown is in an upland area (and close to a region you have heard of a lot -Transylvania), during the summer there are hundred of sea gulls flocking into the city which makes it feel like the seaside is right next to my house. The city is so energetic, the atmosphere so peaceful, and the weather so warm, I can’t help but long for a day at the beach. The go-to brand that came up to my mind is Burberry. It may not be the fashion house that embodies sunny Mediterranean days and ardent afternoons, but, to me, this chiffon midi dress is the expression of everything I just mentioned. It stuck with me ever since I saw Naomi Harriswearing it at the NYC screening of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”. Love it!
