Oh, I tried so much to hold back from updating on the Cannes Film Festival because I know it’s an endless process, but I just can’t help it!
So, I have decided that, at least, I am going to write about my favorite look of the night (or some of my favorites). “The Great Gatsby” premiere which was held at the Lumiere Theatre marked the opening ceremony of the the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival. The starts of the movie, Carey Mulligan together with Leonardo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire and director Baz Luhrmann attended the event as many other guests did: Nicole Kidman (in Christian Dior), Freida Pinto (in Gucci), Florence Welch (in Miu Miu), Vahina Giocante ( in Elie Saab), Lana del Rey, Cara Delevingne (in Burberry) etc.
After wearing a Balenciaga look for the photocall look earlier in the day, Carey followed the same trend of minimalism and simplicity donning a beautiful Christian Dior gown. Love it!
I eagerly waited to see how Phoebe Philo envisioned the Céline woman for the next fall/winter season. I couldn’t have been happier with the result: femininity and functionality merging into one. Structural silhouettes, geometric prints, a color palette screaming strength, rounded designs, voluminous coats, modern minimalistic jewelery pieces and jaw-dropping leather boots formed a very well-executed collection that defines the woman of modern times. I selected some of my favorite looks and you can see them below. Please let me add that those boots and coats are definitely something to crave for!
This is it! The 2013 Academy Awards took place last night at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. As expected, there were a lot of actresses who walked the red carpet. Among my favorites was probably Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani, who easily managed to pull off that look. I also liked Alicia Vikander & Sandra Bullock, both in Elie Saab.Jessica Chastain wore a simple yet very classy and sophisticated design by Armani Privé. I would also add on this list Charlize Theron‘s Dior gown and Anne Hathaway‘s Prada dress. See all the looks below:
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen teamed up with Bureau Betak for their fall 2013 collection presentation which took place in New York City a week ago. When it comes to fashion shows, the Bureau Betak team has been the choice of many designers to style their sets as they always surprise with creativity and versatility. It is always a pleasure to follow their work which includes a big aesthetic diversity. This time, they worked on the decoration of the empty house in Manhattan’s Upper East Side that the sisters have rented for their fall 2013 fashion show. (more…)
