To get straight to the point, my favorites of the night were Marion Cotillard and Naomi Watts. They are the first that come to my mind when I think about last night’s red carpet appearances. Naomi Watts looked stunning in a white Marchesa strapless gown. The fact that she kept the styling simple, made it  look classic and sophisticated. Marion Cotillard wore Christian Dior as usual. The design of the dress really worked out for her. I like it and I also like the fact that, despite wearing the same brand over and over again, Marion always manages to show us a new approach of the look. Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried and Kerry Washington looked very elegant as well. I’d also add Nina Dobrev and Jennifer Garner on this list. Jennifer, who doesn’t take risks when it comes to choosing the dress for the red carpet but neither does she make big mistakes, opted for a sheer gold Oscar de la Renta dress.

Jessica Chastain was another pleasant appearance on the red carpet. Her Alexander McQueen dress is definitely an improvement from what she has worn this awards season. Her dresses have been so lackluster, I believe she deserves to make a great comeback.

Sometimes the dresses, as presented on the runway, don’t look so good on the red carpet. For example, as much as I love Giambattisa Valli, Anne Hathway’s look did not impress me. The most disappointing was undoubtedly Jennifer Lawrence. The design looked completely wrong…it just looked like a cloth wrapped around her body. Just because it’s tagged Dior doesn’t mean it is good.

The 2012 Emmy Awards – The Outfits

There were a lot of colors on the red carpet last night. Heidi Klum wore a beautiful Alexandre Vauthier gown with a  very plunging neckline while the “Modern Family” actress, Sofia Vergara, looked like a veritable mermaid in a Zuhiar Murad dress. Nicole Kidman opted for blue as well, wearing a Antonio Berardi dress.

Opting for blue as well, Julianne Hough wore an impressive Geroges Hobeika Couture gown. The dress was embellished with Swarovski crystals.

Sarah Paulson wore a very elegant Resort 2013 gown by Reem Acra. Lucy Liu walked the red carpet in a silver Versace dress while Hayden Panettiere chose a Marchesa ensemble. I have to say, this Marchesa gown doesn’t work for me at all.

Emilia Clarke wore a wonderful purple sequin Chanel ensemble. I love the dress! Kelly Osbourne looked lovely in an elegant Zac Posen gown. Kristen Wiig opted for a white Balenciaga dress, part of the 2006 Spring/Summer Collection.

Both Kat Dennings & Jena Malone opted for J. Mendel gowns. Kat wore a red Pre-FALL 2012 dress while Jena donned a Resort 2013 gown. Ginnifer Goodwin added more color to the event with her elegant Monique Lhuillier dress.

Ladys opted for yellow…on the list: Kaley Cuoco, Claire Dannes, Julianne Moore & Leslie Mann. Kaley, who plays Penny on The Big Bang Theory, wore an Angels Sanchez dress. Claire Danes chose a simple Lanvin ensemble while Leslie Mann opted for a Naeem Khan Spring 2013 dress.

Julianne Moore wore a Christian Dior Couture gown from the Fall 2012 collection.

Julie Bowen who was also one of the winners of the night attended the event in a Resort 2013 gown by Monique Lhuillier.

The beautiful “Mad Men” actress, Christina Hendricks, wore a Christian Siriano dress. Kerry Washington opted for a wonderful silver Vivienne Westwood dress, while Allison Williams wore an Oscar de la Renta ensemble.

Emily VanCamp wore a J. Mendel Resort 2013 dress. Although the color doesn’t say much, the feminine design make it worth it.

There were also ladys who went for the classic colors, black & white. January Jones donned an impressive Zac Posen gown. Jessica Parre opted for a simple, yet very elegant dress by Jason Wu. Zosia Mamet wore Bihbu Mahopatra. (pictures via: zimbio.com)
