Jessica Chastain, “Cleopatra” Premiere

jessica-chastain-dress-versace-cleopatra-premiere-2013-cannes-film-festival-premiere-red-carpetAnother day in Cannes means another luscious premiere and, this time, the Golden Globe winner Jessica Chastain walked the red carpet for the premiere of “Cleopatra“. I know the beautiful actress opts for simple gowns a lot of the times, so I wasn’t surprised to see this look. She wore a sheer white Versace dress that was enlivened by a breath-taking necklace. I do like the dress, however the necklace doesn’t work for me in spite of its grateness. It is too heavy for such a delicate and feminine design. Her singature hairstyle completed the look.

Zoe Saldana, “Blood Ties” Premiere

The actress wore one of my favorite Valentino dresses! Yesterday I looked through the fall 2013 collection again and wondered if I would see this dress on the red carpet and… here it is. The embroidery is enchanting and the design so feminine, I am very happy Zoe opted for it. Again, I am on the fence about the hair, but let’s say it works…zoe-saldana-dress-blood-ties-valentino-2013-cannes-film-festival-red-carpet-look-2

The actress wore a Christian Dior dress, part of the Resort 2014 collection which was presented on the catwalk just days ago. Although I am not too fond of this type of asymmetric design, this one works for me. However, I think that the hairstyle is too serious for a dress with such an ethereal and summery vibe.

Eternal White: Stéphane Rolland Couture

Winter is very soon coming to an end and I am happily looking forward to spring, as are the designers. Recently, the elites presented their spring haute couture collections and obviously I had to peek at each and one of them. There was something about Stéphane Rolland’s runway looks that immediately drew my attention. The sheer simplicity and the perfect tayloring were transported into a classic minimalistic perfection that centered on the two classic antagonist colours: black and white. You can see the collection here: wwd.com.

I haven’t really covered any Parisian street style that went on during the haute couture fashion week, but Stéphane Rolland’s monochrome collection gives me the perfect reason to do so and point out the timeless vibe of white in outfits and elegant black details.
