I love monochrome outfits, especially for the summer. Whether it’s a stylish suit or a loose blouse and flare pants, they are an irresistible combination to me. I just arrived in my hometown for what I like to believe it’s the beginning of a beautiful vacation, yet I encountered endless pouring rain and dreary weather which makes it feel more like a wistful November morning. It’s not what I expected but hopefully it won’t last for too long. Until then though, I wish I could transport myself to this beautifully-styled Spanish dining room. It exudes so much ease, tranquility and warmth, things that are wholeheartedly desired in my life right now.
Carrying forward with the 2014 trends, today we’re putting the spotlight on the crossover skirtor any similar designs such as the wrap skirt. This year it’s all about one leg or another, and designers have found different ways to make sure we get the memo. Either using the classic skirt split or variations of it, the collections abound in revealing ensembles. I decided to focus on the crossover skirts.
Altuzarra is perhaps one of the most representative brands for this trend bringing to the runway an entire collection of simple, checked, see-through, silver, gold or fringe skirts with thigh-high splits. (more…)

From Hermès to Christian Dior and Lanvin, most of the brands have incorporated this versatile element into their pieces for this year’s spring season. Being one of the most known forms of expression in clothing, the pleat is a veteran in the world of fashion. Therefore, it’s always interesting to see how it is approached by designers.
Chloè has come with ethereal over-pleated dresses while Proenza Schouler and Zimmerman explored a more classic territory and opted for mid-length skirts. Zac Posen and Jenny Packham, two exponents of elegance and femininity in fashion, have completed their collections with heveanly pleated dresses as well.
