Street Style Perfection @ The Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Weeks

I’ve been going through street style pictures ever since the fashion weeks started hoping that I would eventually find something that would blow my mind. That did not happen, but I did gather some very beautiful pictures. Masculinity, minimalism, monochrome looks, functionality…these are the things that I was looking forward to seeing at the fashion weeks among the too-colorful-too-kitsch ensembles and thankfully I found them. Enjoy! (more…)

This Summer’s Gold & Silver Accents

Before I start praising the Haute-Couture collections, I want to talk about one more trend that has been dominating the 2014 spring summer collections. It’s not the first time the palette of  gold and silver shades is trending. In fact,  these colors never left. Last year, I was showing you street style outfits incorporating gold and bronze elements. This year, they seem to have entirely taken over the runway. From Tadashi Sohji’s sheer gold evening dresses to Emilio Pucci‘s silver ensambles here are just a few of this year’s looks: (more…)

This Year’s Crossover Skirts

spring-summer-spring-2013-2014-trend-wrap-crossover-skirt-valentin-yudashkin-vionnet-kaufmanfranco-prabal-gurung-collection-runway-pictures-lookCarrying forward with the 2014 trends, today we’re putting the spotlight on the crossover skirt or any similar designs such as the wrap skirt. This year it’s all about one leg or another, and designers have found different ways to make sure we get the memo. Either using the classic skirt split or variations of it, the collections abound in revealing ensembles. I decided to focus on the crossover skirts.

Altuzarra is perhaps one of the most representative brands for this trend bringing to the runway an entire collection of simple, checked, see-through, silver, gold or fringe skirts with thigh-high splits.  (more…)

2014, A Time for Pleats

The 2014 summer is full of pleated designs, that’s for sure! From Hermès to Christian Dior and Lanvin, most of the brands have incorporated this versatile element into their pieces for this year’s spring season. Being one of the most known forms of expression in clothing, the pleat is a veteran in the world of fashion. Therefore, it’s always interesting to see how it is approached by designers.

Chloè has come with ethereal over-pleated dresses while Proenza Schouler and Zimmerman explored a more classic territory and opted for mid-length skirts. Zac Posen and Jenny Packham, two exponents of elegance and femininity in fashion, have completed their collections with heveanly pleated dresses as well.

Here are some of the runway looks: (more…)

The Sound of Flowers

spring-summer-2014-trend-floral-flowers-pale-pink-bibhu-mohapatra-zac-posen-monique-lhuillier-temperley-london-style-fashion-runway-collection-lookTo start the year on a very positive note, we’ll embark on a colorful quest to enjoy the floral motifs that the most beloved designers and fashion houses have prepared for the summer.

The Spring 2014 Collections provide an interesting range of trends, but if there is one that always makes the list is definitely the floral pattern. And how can it not be when it has some much to offer in a summery collection? Whether using printed fabrics or delicate floral appliques, the designers have incorporated at least one floral piece into their collection. Pure femininity and elegance are the exponents of  the next summer.

I wish you all a joyful new year filled with colorful moments and happiness!
